Supplemental essays
3 required

3 required essays: 1 'Why Dartmouth' response (≤100 words, referencing the Class of 2031 for the current cycle), plus a choice of 1-of-2 prompts (≤250 words) and 1-of-6 prompts (≤250 words).

AI use in essays

Guidance Only — applies to College application essays (discussed generally, not specific to Dartmouth-only requirements)

You can use AI maybe as a thinking partner or a brainstorming tool, but not as the author of your essays... With AI, the way it writes, it just writes in a way that just doesn't sound like a teenager. We want them to have that zip that a teenager has.
