All Sales Are Final. Dewey Smart is committed to delivering quality coaching and tutoring services, and we allocate our coaches’ time and resources based on client commitments. As such, we maintain a no-refund policy on all purchases, except where required by law. By purchasing any service (tutoring hours packages, coaching sessions, subscription, or any product) from Dewey Smart, you acknowledge and agree that all sales are final and non-refundable.
Below are the details and rationale of our refund policy:
- No Refunds on Services: Once payment is made for a Dewey Smart tutoring package or service, those funds are committed. We do not offer refunds for any unused tutoring sessions or partially used packages. For example, if you purchase a package of 10 hours and use only 8 hours, the remaining 2 hours are not eligible for a cash refund. (However, you are entitled to use those hours - see “Service Credit & Expiration” below.)
- Service Credit & Expiration: In lieu of refunds, clients are allowed a generous window to utilize their purchased services. Tutoring hours or services purchased may be used up to two (2) years after the student’s high school graduation. We believe this accommodates students who may pause tutoring or want to save hours for later use (such as after a gap or into college for certain subjects). After that period, any unused sessions will expire with no refund or credit due. Please plan accordingly to use your sessions within this timeframe.
- Transfers of Credit: Officially, tutoring services are purchased for a specific student and are not intended to be transferred to another individual. We understand situations can change; if you have a special request (for instance, transferring remaining sessions to a sibling), you may contact us. We may, at our discretion, allow a one-time transfer of unused sessions to another student, but we are not obligated to do so. Any transfer must be approved in writing by a Dewey Smart administrator. No resale of sessions is permitted (you cannot resell your hours to someone else).
- Cancellation and Missed Sessions: Our separate Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy outlines how missed sessions are handled. In summary, if you miss a session or cancel late, it is counted against your purchased hours with no refund or additional credit given . This is not a “refund” scenario per se, but we emphasize it here to avoid any ambiguity: missed or forfeited sessions due to client no-shows or late cancellations are not refundable since they are considered used. If a session is canceled in a manner that does not incur forfeiture (e.g., with proper advance notice as per policy), you can reschedule that session, but if you choose not to reschedule, it remains as credit to use later rather than a refunded amount.
- Dissatisfaction with Service: We strive to ensure you have a great experience. If you are ever unhappy with a particular session or coach, please reach out to us. While we do not provide refunds, we will work to address your concerns — for instance, we can offer to switch you to a different coach, provide an extra session or extended time as a courtesy, or otherwise make efforts to improve your experience. Any such measures are goodwill gestures and do not constitute a waiver of our no-refund policy. We want you to succeed and will do our best to find a solution, but a refund will not be provided for services already rendered or committed.
- Exceptional Circumstances: In rare cases, Dewey Smart may cancel a service or be unable to fulfill a service that was purchased (e.g., if a specific class or group session series is canceled by us due to low enrollment, or if we cease operations). In such cases, we will first attempt to offer an equivalent service or credit. If that’s not possible, we may issue a refund for the portion of services not delivered, as required by consumer protection laws. These instances are extremely limited and would originate from the Company’s inability to provide the service, not client choice.
- Chargebacks and Disputes: We ask that if you have an issue with billing or services, you contact us to resolve it rather than initiating a chargeback. Initiating a chargeback for a payment that was made in accordance with our policies and with your agreement is considered a breach of our Terms of Service (which you agree to at purchase) . We will contest unwarranted chargebacks with proof of our policies and your agreement to them . This includes providing evidence such as this Refund Policy (which you acknowledged) and records showing service delivery or availability. To avoid this process, please communicate with us – we are here to help within the bounds of our policies.
- Policy Availability: This Refund Policy is made available to customers prior to purchase (e.g., via a link at checkout or on our website). By completing a purchase, you affirm that you have had the opportunity to review this policy. In any dispute about refunds, the language of this policy as presented to you at purchase will be the governing terms.
- Updates to Policy: We may update this Refund Policy occasionally. The most current version will always be posted on our website. Changes will not apply retroactively to purchases made before the change; the policy in effect at the time of your purchase will govern for that purchase. However, if we broaden any rights (for example, if we decided to allow refunds under certain new conditions), we may apply those retroactively at our discretion.
In summary, by choosing Dewey Smart, you are committing to the investment in educational services. All purchases are final, and our primary remedy for any issues is to provide additional support or service rather than monetary refunds. We value your trust and will ensure you get the service you paid for, in accordance with our policies. If you have questions about this refund policy before making a purchase, please contact our team at support@deweysmart.com.
