Loyola Chicago Admits 75% of Applicants — and Runs No Early Decision or Early Action

Loyola University Chicago's published acceptance rate for the Fall 2025 entering class was 75.10%, from 33,009 admits out of 43,954 first-time, first-year applicants. Independent corroboration is rare in this series — most schools' numbers come from one filing, and readers have to take our extraction of that filing on faith. Loyola is an exception: the university's own "Facts at a Glance" sheet, published separately by its Office of Institutional Research & Analysis, states the identical figures for the Class of 2029 — 43,954 total applicants, a 75.1% acceptance rate, and a class size of 2,605. Two independent Loyola sources agree.

The Decomposition

All figures are from Loyola Chicago's Common Data Set, Section C1 residency supplement, for the Fall 2025 entering cohort. The four residency rows sum exactly to the stated totals.

Show the math: 15,546 of 20,089 in-state applicants were admitted, and 15,546 / 20,089 = 77.39%. Out-of-state, 13,530 of 15,530 applicants were admitted, and 13,530 / 15,530 = 87.12%. Subtract the two and out-of-state applicants were admitted at 9.73 points higher than in-state applicants — a real gap, and a somewhat unusual one, since most schools in this series that show any residency gap at all favor in-state applicants, not out-of-state ones. International applicants were admitted at 47.27% (3,769 of 7,973), roughly 30 points below either domestic group.

No Early Decision, No Early Action — At All

This is genuinely useful for timeline planning, so it's worth stating plainly: Loyola Chicago runs neither Early Decision nor Early Action. The university's Common Data Set answers "No" to both the binding Early Decision question and the non-binding Early Action question, in both the Fall 2025 and Fall 2024 filings, and the applicant/admit fields for both sections are blank in both years — consistent with no such plan existing, not with data being withheld. That's why there's no round-based decomposition in this article: at most schools in this series, an early round moves the admit rate substantially, and readers applying regular-decision-only end up facing worse odds than the headline suggests. At Loyola, there's no early round to weigh against your other application deadlines at all. Every applicant, regardless of when they submit within Loyola's regular timeline, is evaluated the same way.

Fall 2024 Told a Similar Story

The shape held a year earlier: out-of-state applicants were admitted at 89.17% against 81.40% in-state, a 7.77-point gap in the same direction as Fall 2025's 9.73 points, and international applicants again trailed both domestic groups by a wide margin. What changed year over year is the overall rate, which fell from 81.60% to 75.10% as Loyola's applicant pool grew by roughly 4,600 while admits grew more modestly.

What Loyola Doesn't Publish

Loyola's undergraduate colleges — the Quinlan School of Business, the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, the School of Communication, and others — are the kind of names prospective students search for directly, hoping to find a program-specific acceptance rate. None exists in any source we could find. Loyola's Common Data Set has no by-college field at all, and neither its Institutional Research pages nor individual college admissions pages publish applicant or admit counts broken out by school. Loyola's "Facts at a Glance" sheet does report by-college numbers, but those are total university enrollment headcounts across all class years and both full- and part-time students — a snapshot of who's currently enrolled, not an admissions funnel — and shouldn't be read as a stand-in for an admit rate. No by-major breakdown is published either.

Loyola Chicago admits three out of every four applicants overall, and the residency split shows a real advantage for out-of-state applicants specifically — 87.12% versus 77.39% in-state for Fall 2025, holding in the same direction the year before.
